Dera Ghazi Khan, In a successful operation, the Punjab Police under the leadership of Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, foiled an attempted terrorist infiltration at the inter-provincial border. The vigilant police teams, stationed at various border posts, effectively prevented the entry of terrorists from the adjoining region into Punjab.
According to Punjab Police, the incident occurred at the Jhangi check post near the Vohawa police station in the Taunsa Circle of Dera Ghazi Khan. Dr. Usman Anwar detailed the sequence of events, revealing that a group of 8 to 10 terrorists belonging to a banned organization attempted to use the cover of night to attack and penetrate the Jhangi border post.
The policemen on duty at the Jhangi post, equipped with advanced thermal image cameras, detected the terrorists’ presence. They responded with heavy firing, successfully repelling the attack and forcing the terrorists to retreat. A backup police team, led by the Station House Officer (SHO) of Vohawa, was promptly dispatched to the site to reinforce the border security.
Dr. Usman Anwar praised the high alertness and commitment of the police teams stationed at all border check posts across the province. He emphasized that the police personnel are vigilant day and night, performing their duties with high morale and dedication. The Inspector General asserted that the Punjab Police are fully prepared to confront and eliminate any threats posed by dangerous terrorists, who he described as enemies of public safety and property.
In his message, IGP Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar reaffirmed the force’s commitment to protecting the province from anti-national elements, terrorists, and criminals. He vowed that no effort would be spared to prevent any terrorist incursions into Punjab and to ensure the safety of its citizens.
