Punjab Police Successfully Extradites Murder Suspect from Saudi Arabia in Joint Operation with Interpol

Lahore, In a significant law enforcement achievement, Punjab Police, following the directives of Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, and in coordination with Interpol Islamabad, has successfully extradited a murder suspect from Saudi Arabia. The suspect was wanted for the 2020 murder of a transgender individual in Gujranwala and had fled Pakistan to evade capture.

According to Punjab Police, the suspect, identified as Sufyan Ali, was apprehended in a joint operation with Saudi authorities and has been brought back to Pakistan to face charges. Ali is accused of killing Khawaja Sara Usman, also known as Piya, and had escaped abroad post the crime. The Special Operation Cell of Punjab Police, Gujranwala, had issued a Red Notice through Interpol, leading to his arrest and extradition. This operation marks the fortieth extradition of a proclaimed offender from abroad by Punjab Police this year, underlining their ongoing efforts to apprehend fugitives outside national borders.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar praised the Regional Police Officer (RPO) Gujranwala and the involved police team for their efforts in capturing the dangerous fugitive. He emphasized the importance of swift legal proceedings and assured that justice would be served promptly. Dr. Anwar also directed further enhancement of coordination with Interpol, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and other relevant departments to continue the effective capture and extradition of wanted criminals.
