Karachi, Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, announced that all police stations in Punjab will transition to the Special Initiative Police Stations (SIPS) protocol by the end of this month, marking a significant shift towards service-oriented and community-friendly policing.
According to Punjab Police, this initiative is part of a broader effort to transform police stations into more efficient service delivery centers under the community policing model. The Chief Minister of Punjab, Syed Mohsin Naqvi, is expected to inaugurate the Special Initiative Police Stations, which are being rapidly established across all districts of the province.
The IG Punjab outlined that the SIPS protocol will include modern amenities like Qmatic machines, ELD screens, and token number counters, as well as separate washrooms for women and men. He directed officers to ensure that the front and back ends of police stations are prepared as per the SOPs of the Special Initiative Police Stations, with a thematic representation of the culture and uniqueness of each region.
The high-level meeting at the Punjab Safe Cities headquarters, chaired by Dr. Usman Anwar, reviewed the progress of this transition. Officers from across Punjab briefed about the ongoing work in their districts, with an emphasis on personal supervision by all officers to complete the transfer work to the Special Initiative Protocol.
This transformation is seen as a crucial step in enhancing the public’s experience with law enforcement and aligning Punjab Police stations with contemporary standards of service and efficiency.
