Lahore: The Punjab Police experienced a record number of promotions in 2024, with over 4,500 officers and personnel advancing to higher ranks.
According to Punjab Police, this wave of promotions included 12 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) promoted to Superintendents of Police (SPs), 92 Inspectors elevated to DSPs, and 394 Sub-Inspectors rising to the rank of Inspector. Additionally, 131 Traffic Wardens were promoted to Senior Traffic Wardens.
The spokesperson for Punjab Police provided further details, noting the promotion of 887 Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs) to Sub-Inspectors, 857 Head Constables to ASIs, and 1,730 Constables to Head Constables. Additionally, 19 Class four staff, 27 Junior Clerks, and 19 Stenographers received promotions. Other advancements included 16 Senior Scale Stenographers, one Private Secretary, and one Assistant Director achieving higher positions. Furthermore, 73 employees, including those in the technical cadre of the Special Branch, were promoted.
Inspector General (IG) Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar commented on the promotions, stating they have honored the officers and elevated their stature. Over the past two years, approximately 26,000 departmental promotions have been granted. Dr. Anwar also highlighted the recruitment efforts under the P-Cadet scheme, with 1,010 ASIs and 438 Sub-Inspectors being recruited. The advanced schedule for this year’s promotion boards has been prepared, with the establishment of the Service and Promotion Structure reportedly improving the force’s performance and trust in service to the citizens.
