Islamabad: In a significant strategic session held at the Central Police Office, Additional IG Operations Punjab, Shehzada Sultan, convened a meeting with regional and district police officers to review performance against established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). This review, mandated by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, focused on critical areas such as crime control, traffic management, and public service delivery.
According to Punjab Police announcement issued on 21 September 2024, the meeting drew participation from Regional Police Officers (RPOs), District Police Officers (DPOs), and traffic authorities from the Rawalpindi and Sargodha regions, connecting via video link. Discussions covered a range of operational topics including the registration and investigation of FIRs, traffic challan issues, law and order management, and the resolution of complaints received through the 1787 IGP complaint center. There was also a strong emphasis on the protection of women and vulnerable groups, as well as improving the efficacy of administrative and security procedures.
Additional IG Operations Punjab Shehzada Sultan issued directives to enhance contact with complainants for faster resolution of issues reported to the 1787 complaint center. He also ordered an escalation in operations against drugs, illegal arms, and organized crime. Sultan stressed the need for improved crime control measures through more effective field patrolling and quicker response times.
Further directives from Sultan included intensifying the crackdown on encroachments and smog in cooperation with district administrations, increasing the rate of driving license issuance, and ensuring the availability of digital services at service centers. High-ranking officials, including DIG IAB Ameen Bukhari and AIG Operations Zahid Nawaz Marwat, were also present to discuss the implementation of these directives.
