Lahore: Punjab Police is actively engaged in efforts to improve public service delivery and enforce traffic laws across the province. According to Punjab Police, more than 3 million 35 thousand driving licenses have been issued this year as part of these initiatives. Additionally, over 3 million 55 thousand challans have been issued for violations of traffic rules, with fines totaling over 6 billion 50 crore rupees. The crackdown has also resulted in 34,877 smoke-emitting vehicles being challaned, 5,984 vehicles impounded, and the confiscation of fitness certificates for 28 vehicles.

Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem emphasized the importance of strict enforcement of amended traffic laws and the implementation of reforms and a modern system. He called for continued action against traffic law violators and stressed that measures should be taken without discrimination. IG Punjab instructed SHOs and SDPOs to collaborate on eliminating chaotic traffic and preventing accidents. He also urged for intensified crackdowns on overloading, overspeeding, underage driving, and one-way rule violations, as well as effective recovery measures from defaulters of traffic challans.
