Punjab Police Repel Major Terrorist Attack on Lakhani Border Post

Dera Ghazi Khan: In a late-night operation, Punjab Police successfully repelled an assault by a large group of terrorists at the Lakhani border post, under the jurisdiction of Wahwa police station in Dera Ghazi Khan.

According to Punjab Police, between 50 to 60 terrorists attacked the checkpoint, equipped with thermal imaging cameras that detected the assailants. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar reported that the stationed police responded with machine guns and mortars, forcing the terrorists to retreat. He praised the bravery and quick action of the officers involved, announcing that all personnel at the checkpoint will receive gallantry medals, certificates of appreciation, and cash rewards.

The operation was led by RPO DG Khan, Captain (Retd) Sajjad Hassan Khan, with support from backup teams of the Elite Force and Quick Response Force. DPO Dera Ghazi Khan was also present at the scene, overseeing the operations alongside SHO Wahwa police station’s personnel.

Dr. Anwar emphasized the high morale of the police force and their preparedness to thwart any terrorist attempts to disrupt peace. He assured that stringent security measures, including the provision of advanced weaponry and ongoing mock exercises at the border posts, will continue in collaboration with CTD, Rangers, and other agencies.

A comprehensive search operation remains underway in the border areas between Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to ensure the security and safety of the region.
