Lahore, Punjab Police, in its commitment to fostering educational culture and interactions with higher education students, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). Inspector General (IG) Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar revealed this at the MOU signing ceremony held at the Central Police Office. The partnership aims to improve understanding of the police system among students, facilitate research, and enhance the training, capacity building, and service delivery of the police force.
According to Punjab Police, Representatives from both institutions, including IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar and the Head of Department Law and Policy from LUMS, Sikandar Ahmad Shah, formalized the agreement. The MOU will promote bilateral cooperation in criminal justice and research. LUMS will offer its expertise in community policing projects and assist in enhancing the police force’s capability to address gender sensitivity and related crimes. Furthermore, Punjab Police will support LUMS students’ research endeavours through internships. In reciprocity, LUMS is set to provide technical aid in areas like IT-based policing and the establishment of a Police Leadership and Development Center.
