Punjab Police Officer Killed in Confrontation with Robbers in Chakwal

Chakwal: In a tragic incident, Elite Constable Tahir Raza Shah of the Punjab Police was killed during a confrontation with robbers in Chakwal, as he endeavored to protect the lives and property of citizens. The confrontation occurred during a police raid aimed at apprehending wanted criminals in the jungle of Kalar Kahar Rattha village.

According to Punjab Police, Constable Tahir Raza Shah was critically injured after being shot in the abdomen and arm. He succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at a local hospital. During the encounter, police managed to kill two robbers and arrest three others in retaliatory fire.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar paid tribute to Constable Shah, highlighting his bravery and ultimate sacrifice. He expressed deep condolences and sympathy to the martyr’s family and reassured that the department would provide full support to them. Dr. Anwar also requested a detailed report of the incident from the RPO Rawalpindi to understand the circumstances that led to this tragic loss.

The funeral prayers for Constable Tahir Raza Shah were conducted at the Police Lines Chakwal, attended by notable officials including Regional Police Officer Rawalpindi Babar Sarfraz Alpa and Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Engineer Amir Khattak. Senior police officers and local parliamentarians also attended, offering their condolences to Shah’s family. During the ceremony, a police honor guard saluted the fallen officer and special prayers were held for his elevated ranks.

DPO Chakwal spoke on the occasion, emphasizing that Constable Shah’s sacrifice and services to the community will always be remembered. The Chief Minister of Punjab, along with other high-ranking officials, also extended their condolences and laid floral tributes. Following the funeral, Constable Shah was laid to rest in his ancestral village of Karsal with official honors.
