Punjab Police Nears Completion of Housing Mission for Martyrs’ Families

Lahore: The Punjab Police, under the guidance of Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar, is close to completing a mission to provide housing for the families of officers who were martyred before 2017. This initiative recently marked a significant milestone with the distribution of plots for the construction of personal homes to families of 27 martyrs from the Sahiwal district.

According to Punjab Police, the ceremony, which saw a large turnout from the martyr families of Sahiwal, was held at the Central Police Office. During the event, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar highlighted the progress of the initiative, noting that plots have now been allocated to families of 59 out of the 76 martyrs from the Sahiwal region before 2017. Additionally, all families of 27 martyrs from Pakpattan and 37 from Okara have received their plot files. To date, the Punjab Police has provided plots to 681 out of 1,375 police martyrs recognized before 2017 and has also distributed 38 million rupees among 23 families to aid in home construction.

IG Punjab commended the RPO Sahiwal and DPO Sahiwal for their dedication in securing these plots and reiterated the department’s commitment to the welfare of martyrs’ families. He underscored the importance of supporting the families of martyrs, whom he described as a source of pride for the community. Dr. Anwar also detailed ongoing welfare initiatives, such as priority employment under the “Shaheed Quota” and foreign scholarships for higher education for the children of martyrs.

The event also included a tour for the families around the Martyrs’ Wall at the Central Police Office, led by IG Punjab, symbolizing the enduring honor and remembrance of the martyred officers. Senior officials including RPO Sahiwal Mehmood Rasheed, DIG Welfare Ghazi Muhammad Salahuddin, DPO Sahiwal Faisal Shehzad, and AIG Welfare Ammara Shirazi were present, reflecting the collective commitment of the Punjab Police to this cause.
