Lahore: Punjab Police Khidmat Marakaz, a flagship public service project, achieved a milestone in 2024 by providing record-breaking services to more than 2.6 million citizens across the province.
According to Punjab Police, the service centres delivered a variety of police-related services, including the issuance of 1.139 million General Police Verifications and the processing of 733,388 Police Character Certificates. Additionally, 231,000 Tenancy Registrations were completed, and legal and social protection was extended to 104,000 citizens, particularly those from vulnerable segments of society. The centres also issued copies of 120,000 First Information Reports (FIRs).
Further services provided included the registration of 81,000 reports of lost documents and the issuance of 154,000 Medicolegal Certificates. In addition, 4,500 police verifications were conducted for private employees in homes, industrial, and commercial establishments.
Other services reported by the centres included 31,000 vehicle verifications and the registration of 250 cases of violence against women under the Women Violence Report system. The Registration of Employees (ROPE) initiative facilitated the registration of 1,812 employees for employment in private institutions.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, emphasized the growing benefit that citizens across the province, including those in Lahore, are deriving from these service centres. Describing the Police Khidmat Marakaz as an exemplary public service delivery initiative, Dr. Anwar stated, “The service centres continue to evolve to meet the needs of the public. With upgraded facilities and 24/7 operations, we are committed to ensuring efficient and accessible services for all citizens.”
