Lahore: Punjab Police have launched an intensified campaign aimed at the evacuation of illegal foreign nationals from the province. According to Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, a total of 11,892 individuals, including numerous Afghans, have been deported as part of this ongoing effort.
The campaign has led to the relocation of 12,274 illegal residents to designated holding centers, with 382 individuals currently situated at these facilities. Dr. Anwar noted that the operation includes the establishment of five holding centers in Lahore and 46 throughout the province.
The police chief emphasized that the policy is being carried out in strict compliance with international laws, with security measures on high alert. He assured that the evacuation process respects human rights, while urging regional and district police officials to expedite the eviction procedures.
Illegal foreign nationals are being identified through collaboration with the Special Branch, the Counter Terrorism Department, and security agencies, supported by intelligence-based information, Dr. Anwar added.
