Lahore, Following the directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Police have escalated their campaign against the use of metal strings and unauthorized kite flying across the province. This initiative aims to enhance public safety, particularly for motorcyclists, with police distributing safety wires and taking strict enforcement actions under the Kite Flying Act.
According to Punjab Police, the campaign has led to the installation of safety wire guards on over 110,000 motorcycles, including distribution by the operations wing and traffic police. In the last 24 hours, police action under the Kite Flying Act resulted in 30 cases being registered, 30 arrests, and the seizure of thousands of kites and metallic spinning wheels.
Over the past 36 days, the intensified efforts have led to 3,526 cases being filed, 3,659 arrests, and significant seizures of kites and metal strings, reflecting the extensive scope of this safety operation. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has mandated continued vigilance and increased actions against the illegal kite flying activities, emphasizing the need for personal oversight by supervisory officers to ensure public safety and compliance with the law.
