Lahore: Following Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s “Drug-Free Punjab” vision, the Punjab Police have accelerated their anti-narcotics operations across the province, aiming to dismantle drug trafficking networks. Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem has instructed a rigorous crackdown against major drug dealers and smugglers.

According to Punjab Police, more than 11,000 drug peddlers have been arrested this year, with 10,975 cases registered. The operations have led to significant recoveries, including over 6,000 kilograms of charas, 706 kilograms of heroin, 308 kilograms of ice (crystal meth), 151 kilograms of opium, and 179,000 liters of liquor. In Lahore alone, 1,148 drug peddlers were arrested, and 1,145 cases were registered, with notable seizures of charas, heroin, ice, opium, and liquor.

IG Punjab Abdul Kareem emphasized the importance of bringing all individuals involved in the drug supply chain to justice and imposing strict legal punishments. He also stressed the need for intensified actions against drug activities in and around educational institutions, hostels, and online platforms.
