Punjab Police Intensify Crackdown on Drug Trafficking Under Chief Minister’s Directive

Lahore, In a robust move to combat drug trafficking, Punjab Police have ramped up operations across the province, following directives from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to foster a drug-free Punjab. The intensified efforts aim to eradicate the widespread menace of narcotics.

According to Punjab Police, the campaign led by IGP Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has resulted in significant seizures and arrests. Over 14,000 raids have been executed on drug dens in various districts, including Lahore, culminating in the arrest of numerous suspects and the confiscation of large quantities of illegal substances. Recently, operations yielded 4897 kg of charas, more than 26 kg of Ice, 210 kg of opium, 88 kg of heroin, and 42,132 liters of liquor.

The spokesperson highlighted that in the last 24 hours alone, 321 raids were conducted, 138 new cases were registered, and 141 individuals implicated in drug trafficking were detained. These operations also led to the recovery of 61 kilograms of charas and 2454 liters of alcohol, among other drugs. IGP Anwar has ordered an escalation in targeted actions against drug dealers to protect the youth and has called for stringent legal measures to ensure the offenders face the full force of the law.
