Punjab Police Intensifies Security Operations Ahead of Muharram

Lahore: In anticipation of Muharram, the Punjab Police, under the directives of Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar, has intensified its security operations across the province. Over the last 24 hours, a significant number of search, sweep, and combing operations have been conducted, particularly in Lahore, to maintain peace and order.

The Punjab Police spokesperson reported that 373 combing operations were carried out, resulting in the inspection of 12,174 suspects. Of these, 35 individuals were detained for further investigation. Additionally, 23 targeted search and sweep operations led to the questioning of 2,549 individuals and the arrest of three suspects.

The operations have also led to the apprehension of 228 proclaimed offenders, 85 court absconders, and 56 habitual criminals accused of serious crimes. A substantial cache of illegal weapons and ammunition has been seized from those detained.

During actions against criminal elements, four individuals were neutralized, and six others were arrested while injured. IG Punjab emphasized the continuation of these operations to ensure the safety and accountability of individuals involved in terrorist and anti-national activities.
