Punjab Police Intensifies Province-wide Crackdown, Dismantles Thousands of Criminal Gangs

Lahore: In a sweeping campaign led by Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Police has significantly stepped up its efforts to eradicate serious crimes across the province. The initiative has successfully dismantled thousands of criminal gangs and led to the recovery of stolen properties worth billions.

According to Punjab Police announcement issued on 08 October 2024, the force has eliminated 5,351 criminal gangs and arrested 13,124 individuals involved in various crimes this year. Among the recovered items are 1,514 vehicles, 23,062 motorcycles, significant amounts of gold and mobile phones, and thousands of livestock, all of which are being returned to their rightful owners. In addition to property recovery, over Rs. 4.6 billion in cash has been confiscated from criminals. Specifically in Lahore, efforts have led to the dismantling of 3,049 gangs, resulting in the arrest of 6,782 suspects and recovery of properties valued at over Rs. 270 million.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has commended the police for their robust performance in combating organized crime and stressed the need for accelerating intelligence-based operations. He emphasized the importance of bringing professional criminals to justice and outlined the continued focus on effective patrolling and targeted operations in known crime hotspots. Dr. Anwar’s directives also include maximizing the deployment of resources to protect citizens and eradicate criminal activities across Punjab.
