Lahore: Punjab Police have ramped up efforts to secure the internal borders of the province, conducting 412 intelligence-based search, sweep, and combing operations within the past 24 hours, including significant activity in Lahore. This initiative, directed by Inspector General Police Dr. Usman Anwar, aims to enhance security and apprehend individuals involved in serious criminal activity.
During these operations, police officials checked and interrogated 14,219 individuals deemed suspicious. As a result, 52 individuals were taken into custody. The operations also led to the arrest of 212 proclaimed offenders involved in grave offenses, 37 court absconders, and 45 habitual criminals.
Authorities reported the recovery of a substantial amount of illegal weapons and ammunition from those detained. These efforts also resulted in the neutralization of one criminal, while five others were apprehended in injured condition.
Inspector General Anwar emphasized the necessity of these operations to hold terrorists and anti-state actors accountable, indicating that such measures would continue to ensure public safety and maintain law and order across the province.
