Punjab Police Intensifies Hunt for Offenders Fleeing Overseas

Islamabad, In a renewed crackdown against culprits who escape overseas after committing crimes in Punjab, the Punjab Police, under the directive of IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, has stepped up efforts, resulting in the arrest of a murder suspect from the United Arab Emirates.

According to a news release by Punjab Police, Ikhlaq Ahmed, who was wanted in a murder case, had evaded arrest by fleeing to the UAE about eight months after the incident. With his capture, the count of proclaimed offenders arrested abroad this year has risen to 128. Following the issuance of a red notice through Interpol and subsequent procedures, Ahmed was apprehended three weeks ago in the UAE. After completing all legal formalities, he was brought back to Pakistan and handed over to the Gujranwala police for subsequent actions.

He further instructed that the clampdown on serious criminals involved in crimes like murder, robbery, and kidnapping be intensified. Dr. Anwar emphasized the importance of collaboration with FIA, Interpol, and other agencies, and mandated the RPOs and DPOs to personally oversee the ongoing crackdown and regularly update the Central Police Office with arrest reports.
