Punjab Police Intensifies Enforcement of Anti-Kite Flying Act

Lahore: In a concerted effort to clamp down on kite flying, the Punjab Police has been actively implementing the Anti-Kite Flying Act, as per directives from Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar. Within the past month, the police have arrested 770 individuals and registered 747 cases related to violations across the province, including Lahore.

According to a statement by Punjab Police, the crackdown resulted in the confiscation of over 48,000 kites and 1,764 spinning wheels. Additionally, more than 500 cases have seen challans submitted. In Lahore alone, authorities arrested over 240 suspects, registered 246 cases, and seized over 3,000 kites and 329 string spinning wheels.

Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized that the Kite Flying Prohibition Amendment Bill must be enforced rigorously. He instructed regional, city, and district police officers to accelerate efforts against those involved in kite flying, selling, and manufacturing. He stressed that there would be zero tolerance for the dangerous activity and urged for action against the online sale of metal strings and kites.

The Punjab Police urged parents to prevent their children from participating in kite flying and called on citizens to report any incidents to the authorities.
