Punjab Police Intensifies Efforts to Address Public Grievances

Lahore: IG Punjab’s Complaint Center 1787 is taking proactive steps to address public complaints, with senior police officials directly involved in resolving citizens’ issues. According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, the center has received 35,000 complaints in the first three months of the year, successfully resolving 94% of them. Daily directives are being issued to tackle over a thousand complaints.

The spokesperson highlighted that 2,805 FIRs have been filed in response to public complaints. Issues such as FIR registration, poor investigations, and requests for changes in investigations are being addressed. Complaints against police staff and services are also being resolved. Additionally, grievances from departmental employees, martyrs’ families, and retired officers are being attended to.

Once a complaint is lodged, it is sent to the relevant field officer, who must contact the complainant within 24 hours and report back to the center. Citizens can register their complaints daily from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM. IG Punjab has instructed officers to adhere to the SOPs, ensure timely resolution of complaints, and implement the free registration of FIRs policy.
