Lahore: Punjab Police has reinforced its commitment to supporting officers embroiled in legal cases related to their duties by distributing Rs. 5.6 million among 13 police employees.
According to Punjab Police, the financial assistance comes from the Legal Endowment Fund, established with Rs. 100 million last year, which has already disbursed over Rs. 18.8 million to officers and officials facing legal challenges.
During a ceremony at the Central Police Office, Inspector General (IG) Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, emphasized the department’s dedication to supporting its employees. He assured that no officer or official would face these challenges alone, highlighting plans to increase the fund to assist more employees. The initiative aims to alleviate financial burdens, ensuring that officers do not have to resort to selling personal assets to cover legal expenses.
Inspector Muhammad Saqib Abbasi from Rawalpindi, along with widows of Shaheed ASI Muhammad Arif and Shaheed Head Constable Ghulam Jafar from Jhang, were among the recipients of the financial aid. Additional funds were allocated to other officers from various districts, reflecting the department’s commitment to its personnel. Senior officers, including DIG Welfare Ghazi Muhammad Salahuddin and AIG Welfare Ammara Shirazi, were present at the event, underscoring the importance of the initiative.
