Punjab Police Implements Comprehensive Security Plan for Ramadan

Lahore, In anticipation of Ramadan, the Punjab Police, under the guidance of Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, has unveiled a detailed security strategy to safeguard 36,433 mosques, 2,179 imambargahs, and 444 minority places of worship throughout the province, including Lahore. This initiative aims to ensure the safety of worshippers during the holy month.

According to Punjab Police, the security plan involves the deployment of over 74,000 police officers, officials, and community volunteers. This comprehensive approach includes the utilization of 200 walk-through gates and more than 12,000 metal detectors to secure sensitive mosques and imambargahs. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized that this year’s security measures exceed those of the previous Ramadan, incorporating modern technology alongside traditional force deployment.

Dr. Anwar detailed the increased search operations and patrolling around religious sites, particularly during key times such as Fajar (Suhur), Iftar, and Taraweeh prayers. Specialized units like the Dolphin Squad, PERU, and Elite Teams will conduct effective patrolling to further reinforce security. Additionally, he highlighted the role of Safe City cameras in continuous monitoring of security arrangements and activities.

The IG Punjab called on Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to maintain close communication with peace and mosque committees in their areas to foster a collaborative security effort. He urged religious scholars and local leaders to promote inter-faith harmony, brotherhood, and peace, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in maintaining a peaceful atmosphere during Ramadan and holding malevolent elements accountable.
