Lahore, Following directives from Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Police have fortified security arrangements at Christian worship places across the province, ensuring a safe environment for Sunday prayer services. The effort included the deployment of additional personnel and heightened patrols around churches to safeguard the community during their religious observances.
According to Punjab Police, detailed security plans were executed by Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs), with supervisory officers and special squads like the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU), and Elite teams actively patrolling sensitive areas. Dr. Anwar emphasized the need for vigilance among officers to deter potential threats and instructed continuous search and sweep operations in and around churches and Christian communities. He also highlighted the role of community engagement in promoting inter-faith harmony and mentioned the establishment of Meesaq Centers, which prioritize addressing the needs and concerns of minority communities, including Christians.
