Lahore: The Inspector General of Police for Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, recently visited the frontline positions in Kacha Machka, close to Ghotki, where he met with police officers engaged in combatting criminal elements under the region’s challenging conditions. During the visit, he evaluated the security operations, expressed admiration for the officers’ morale, and highlighted the ongoing efforts to maintain law and order in the area.
According to Punjab Police announcement issued on 25 August 2024, Dr. Anwar’s visit included an inspection of the site of the recent Machka incident, where he received a comprehensive briefing from the District Police Officer of Rahim Yar Khan, Rizwan Umar Gondal. The briefing focused on the recent progress and persistent challenges in policing the Kacha area, a notorious haven for criminal activity. The IGP also visited Machka police station, meeting with Constable Ahmad Nawaz, who was recently rescued in a police operation.
The tour was conducted alongside Noor ul Ameen Mengal, Secretary of the Punjab Home Department. Dr. Anwar praised the frontline officers, acknowledging them as heroes who continually face severe conditions to ensure public safety. He underscored the Punjab Police’s historical sacrifices and reaffirmed the commitment to eradicating criminal activities in Kacha, ensuring the enforcement of law and authority in the region.
Throughout his engagements, Dr. Anwar reiterated the support from the Punjab Chief Minister, who he noted had provided all necessary resources for peace and order initiatives. He stated that the policing mission in Kacha would persist with unyielding dedication, bolstered by the successful apprehension and prosecution of numerous criminals, reflecting the resilience of the force despite adversities.
Present during the visit were several high-ranking officials, including Mohammad Kamran Khan, Additional IG of South Punjab, Ahsan Younas, MD of Punjab Safe Cities Authority, Rai Babar Saeed, RPO Bahawalpur, and DPO Rizwan Umar Gondal, who collectively contribute to the strategic operations against criminal elements in the area.
