Punjab Police IG Suspends Three DSPs for Misconduct and Inefficiency

Lahore: In a decisive move to uphold discipline within the ranks, Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has suspended three Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) for various charges including misconduct, inefficiency, and abuse of power.

According to Punjab Police announcement issued on 10 August 2024, the suspended officers are DSP Headquarters Sahiwal and former SDPO Dehli Gate Multan, Muhammad Shehbaz Gul; SDPO Sadar Jhang, Muhammad Aslam; and SDPO Baragarh Nankana Sahib, Saleem Haider Shah. Specific allegations include DSP Saleem Haider Shah’s involvement in benefiting suspects and issuing a false FIR, DSP Muhammad Aslam’s wrongful implication of two innocent individuals and an illegal detention order, and DSP Shehbaz Gul’s collusion with the land mafia.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized that the Punjab Police maintains rigorous standards of accountability and discipline, asserting that further legal actions are slated against the suspended officers in line with departmental rules and regulations.
