Lahore, A special ceremony was held at the Central Police Office to honor traffic police officers who were recently promoted from Wardens to Senior Traffic Wardens, with Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, leading the event.
According to Punjab Police, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, donning a traffic police uniform, and other senior officers pinned new ranks on 50 officers. A total of 312 wardens have been promoted across various districts, including 100 in Lahore, 81 in Rawalpindi, 68 in Faisalabad, 41 in Multan, and 22 in Gujranwala.
IG Punjab highlighted that this year marks the start of a series of promotions after 17 years in the traffic police, with over a thousand wardens promoted. He noted that there are more than 80 vacancies for DSP rank in traffic police, for which officers will be promoted based on merit and seniority. Addressing issues such as violence against wardens, health concerns, and long working hours, Dr. Anwar assured that steps are being taken to address these challenges and to establish a clear promotion structure. He also mentioned upcoming upgrades to traffic police offices and infrastructure.
Dr. Anwar urged the newly promoted officers to reflect their departmental advancement through enhanced performance and service to citizens with good morals, a positive attitude, and sincere intention. The ceremony was attended by Additional IG Punjab Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry, Additional IG Traffic Mirza Faran Baig, MD Safe City Authority Ahsan Younis, DIG Establishment-1 Dr. Inam Waheed, DIG Establishment-2 Zeeshan Asghar, and other officers.
