Punjab Police Heightens Security During Christian Worship Services Across Province


LAHORE: Christian worship services were conducted in churches throughout the province with the Punjab Police maintaining a high level of alertness to ensure security. According to Punjab Police, officers and personnel were deployed across multiple locations, including Lahore, to safeguard worshipers during the services.



Inspector General Police Punjab Abdul Kareem had earlier issued directives to Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to reinforce security measures at churches. He emphasized the personal involvement of supervisory officers in inspecting security arrangements at churches and other significant sites. The directives also included the deployment of additional police personnel and snipers at sensitive church locations, along with the active patrolling by teams from the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU), and Elite Force.



IG Punjab Abdul Kareem instructed all officers and personnel on duty to maintain high alertness and closely monitor any potential threats. He also called for ongoing search and sweep operations around churches, Christian neighborhoods, and sensitive areas. Furthermore, he encouraged religious leaders, the Christian community, and peace committee members to work towards fostering interfaith harmony.
