Lahore, August 24, 2022 (PPI-OT):Inspector General Police Punjab Faisal Shahkar has said that the future of police service is IT-based policing, that is why Punjab Police is expanding scope of IT in its services so that citizens can benefit from police services without any problem sitting at home.
IG Punjab said that for immediate redressal of public complaints and immediate provision of information related to police services, Punjab Police has launched two modern services “Punjab Police WhatsApp Services and Online Complaint Management System” which aims to take out police services from police stations and offices and deliver them at doorsteps of citizens so that they may not only register complaints easily but also get other information including obtaining driving license, registration of FIR on just one click.
Faisal Shahkar said that the WhatsApp number of Punjab Police is 0331-7871787, from which every citizen, especially Pakistanis living abroad, will benefit and they will not have to come to Pakistan for obtaining any documents or for police action.
IG Punjab said that under these modern services, overseas Pakistanis will be able to get information and services from anywhere and in the light of citizens’ feedback, more services will be added in future.
IG Punjab Faisal Shahkar further expressed that police are consolidating all its IT projects into one modern App on the lines of multinational companies so that citizens can have access to all policing-related facilities in a single App. IG Punjab said that for the convenience of people, the complaint management system of the Punjab Police has also been made online. Citizens can not only register their complaints online but also can get E.tag number.
IG Punjab said that the complaints received by the citizens will be monitored at the Central Police Office as well as at the district level and action will also be taken against those who take action on the complaints after delay. He expressed these views while talking to media representatives after the digital inauguration of Punjab Police WhatsApp Services and Online Complaint Management System in a ceremony organized at the Central Police Office today.
In the event, DIG IT Ahsan Younis while giving a briefing to the media representatives about the use and features of both modern services said that Punjab Police is making its IT projects more convenient for the citizens and Punjab Police WhatsApp services and online complaints Management systems are a link in this chain. He said that nowadays every citizen is using WhatsApp and if he has any work related to the police, he should send hello, salam or 1 to(0331- 7871787) and 15 services will be displayed.
These services include Crime Report, IG Punjab Complaint Cell, Police Service Center Facilities, Helpline Numbers, Gender Harassment Report, Police Offices, Facilities for Overseas Pakistanis, Social Media, Punjab Police Website, Zainab Alert, Most Wanted Criminals, Citizen portal, details of domestic workers criminal record verification, feedback and suggestions etc.
He further elaborated that citizens do not need to move any office for acquiring information of services and they can now easily access to police services on their phones by sitting at their homes. DIG IT Ahsan Younis said that Punjab police management system has also been made online for convenience of citizens. He said that citizens do not need to go to any office to get information, but they can access police services from their mobile phones at home.
DIG Ahsan Younis said that for public convenience, the complaint management system of Punjab Police has also been made online, through which citizens will be able to directly contact the police without coming to the police station to get services.
DIG Operations Punjab Waqas Nazir while speaking said that after police service centers and service centers, these two modern services will also prove to be important milestones in the provision of services by Punjab Police from which all citizens can benefit equally.
IG Punjab Faisal Shahkar, while answering the questions asked by the media representatives, said that to publicize these modern services, Punjab Police teams will go to schools and give awareness lectures so that students can inform their parents about these modern services.
Answering a question asked by a journalist about the actions of May 25, IG Punjab said that there is public pressure on the police and we are used to it. He said that all police officers are experienced and they are bound to work under pressure or not. He said that whatever happens will be according to the law, nothing will happen outside the law and we will follow the law in any case.
