Punjab Police Foil Terrorist Attack on Mianwali Check Post

Mianwali: A terrorist attack on the Qabol Khel check post in Issa Khel, Mianwali was successfully repelled by the Punjab Police, preventing potential casualties and maintaining security in the region. The assault, which involved rocket launchers and hand grenades, was carried out by a group of 12 to 14 Kharji terrorists under the cover of darkness.

According to Punjab Police, the terrorists targeted the check post with heavy weaponry, but the alert officers stationed there managed to fend off the attackers through sustained and effective retaliatory firing. During the skirmish, one police officer suffered a bullet wound to the arm. Following the attack, a comprehensive search operation was initiated in the vicinity to track down the fleeing assailants, with senior officials including DPO Mianwali Akhtar Farooq personally overseeing the efforts at the scene.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar commended the bravery and quick action of the Mianwali police personnel stationed at the Qabol Khel check post. He highlighted that this recent thwarted attack marks the ninth such incident against the Punjab Police in recent months, all of which have been successfully neutralized. Dr. Anwar reassured the public of the police’s staunch defense against such threats, particularly at critical inter-provincial border posts, vowing continued resilience against any future terrorist activities.

The ongoing operations and heightened security measures signify the Punjab Police’s commitment to safeguarding the area against the backdrop of increasing terror threats. The situation remains tense but under control, with authorities maintaining a vigilant stance to prevent any further incidents.
