Lahore, In a notable enforcement action, Punjab Police have successfully extradited a dangerous proclaimed offender involved in a murder case from Saudi Arabia, marking a significant achievement in their ongoing campaign against fugitives.
According to Punjab Police, under the leadership of Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, the force has intensified its efforts to apprehend proclaimed offenders who have fled overseas. The latest operation saw the arrest and extradition of Muhammad Tariq, accused of committing a homicide in Jalalpur, Multan in 2020. Evading local authorities, Tariq had sought refuge abroad until his recent capture through coordination with Interpol, leading to his handover to Multan Police for prosecution.
Dr. Usman Anwar confirmed that with Tariq’s extradition, the total number of overseas arrests this year has escalated to 18. He lauded the diligent work of the police personnel involved in these complex international operations. Emphasizing the necessity of swift and fair legal proceedings, IG Punjab instructed that Tariq should face stringent judicial action. He further mandated an increase in the momentum of the crackdown to locate and apprehend more absconding offenders, reinforcing the police’s commitment to justice and community safety.
