LAHORE: Punjab Police have intensified their crackdown on proclaimed offenders and court absconders involved in heinous crimes, resulting in the arrest of more than 65,000 individuals across the province this year. Among those apprehended, 22,948 belong to the A category of proclaimed offenders, while over 42,000 fall under category B.
In addition to these figures, the police have successfully detained 26,917 court absconders, comprising 6,005 from category A and 20,912 from category B. The operation also led to the arrest of 13,848 habitual criminals, with 5,377 classified as A category and 8,471 as B category offenders.
In Lahore alone, authorities have arrested 13,733 proclaimed offenders, 10,689 court absconders, and 5,345 habitual criminals. This intensified effort reflects the police’s commitment to curbing crime across the region.
Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, acknowledged the efforts of police teams in capturing these offenders. He has instructed for an acceleration in the operations, emphasizing the importance of close collaboration with complainants and effective information sharing to apprehend dangerous criminals.
Dr. Anwar further directed that Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) should personally oversee the operations to ensure the capture of high-risk proclaimed offenders.
