Punjab Police Enhances Support for Vulnerable Groups Through Virtual Initiatives

Lahore: The Punjab Police, under the leadership of Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar, is intensifying its efforts to support vulnerable groups, including women and transgender individuals, through various virtual and community policing initiatives. A recent performance review meeting at the Central Police Office in Lahore highlighted the success of these programs in providing immediate relief and support.

According to Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar chaired the meeting, which focused on the operations of the Virtual Women Police Stations, Tahafuz Centers, Meesaq Centers, and District Women Police Councils. The IG emphasized the effectiveness of the Virtual Women Police Stations, which have provided assistance to over 58,500 women in the past four months. He urged district police officers to actively oversee these cases, ensuring swift action and support for the affected women.

Dr. Anwar also highlighted the critical role of Tahafuz Centers in offering support and rehabilitation services to transgender individuals and other vulnerable groups. He called for enhanced performance of these centers to ensure they meet the needs of the community effectively.

The meeting also covered the broader scope of community policing efforts aimed at protecting vulnerable populations and providing them with necessary legal and social assistance. Key officials, including SSP Operations of the Safe Cities Authority Riffat Bukhari, CTO Lahore Ammara Athar, and others provided updates on their respective areas of responsibility, focusing on the impact and future directions of these initiatives.
