Punjab Police Enhance Security for 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal Celebrations

Lahore: In preparation for the 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal, Inspector General of Police Dr. Usman Anwar led a crucial meeting at the Central Police Office to assess the security protocols for the upcoming Eid Milad-un-Nabi celebrations. The meeting, attended via video link by all Regional Police Officers (RPOs), City Police Officers (CPOs), and District Police Officers (DPOs) across Punjab, aimed to ensure robust security measures for the various events.

According to Punjab Police announcement issued on 16 September 2024, over 1581 Milad-un-Nabi gatherings and 2467 processions and rallies are scheduled across the province, with more than 55,000 police officers and personnel deployed to maintain order. In Lahore alone, 255 processions and more than 225 Milad gatherings will be held, secured by over 10,000 officers, personnel, and volunteers. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar issued directives for stringent security at all event locations, emphasizing the importance of safety in light of the current national context.

Dr. Anwar called for meticulous inspections by RPOs, DPOs, commissioners, and deputy commissioners, and stressed the necessity of early clearance of sensitive spots and coordination among all stakeholders to preempt any disturbances. He also encouraged religious scholars to advocate for interfaith and sectarian harmony, promoting an atmosphere of tolerance and respect during the celebrations. The meeting was also attended by senior officers including Additional IG Punjab, Additional IG Operations, and DIG Operations Punjab.
