Punjab Police Enhance Security During Christian Prayer Services Across Province

LAHORE: Punjab Police implemented heightened security measures during Christian worship prayer services at churches throughout the province, including in Lahore. According to Punjab Police, the Inspector General of Police, Abdul Kareem, had earlier directed Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to bolster the security of churches. Supervisory officers were instructed to personally inspect security arrangements at churches and other significant locations.

Additional police personnel and snipers were stationed at sensitive churches, with Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU), and Elite Force teams undertaking extensive patrols in church vicinities. IG Punjab emphasized that on-duty officers must stay vigilant and closely monitor potential threats. Search and sweep operations were to be conducted continuously around churches, Christian neighborhoods, and other sensitive areas. Abdul Kareem also highlighted the role of religious scholars, the Christian community, and peace committee members in fostering interfaith harmony.
