Lahore, The Punjab Police has released a video to honor the transformative efforts and modern reforms implemented by the caretaker Chief Minister Punjab, Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi, during his one-year tenure. The video focuses on the significant changes brought to the police force, highlighting the introduction of various welfare measures.
According to Punjab Police, the tribute video showcases the extensive reforms and improvements made under Chief Minister Naqvi’s leadership. These changes include the transition of all 737 police stations in the province to the Special Initiative Protocol, with 97 percent of citizens reportedly satisfied with the performance of these stations, as per feedback from the QR code system. Notably, approval was granted for the construction of 40 smart police stations across Punjab, and 20,000 promotions were awarded from the constable to SP rank. The recruitment process and employee regularization were also enhanced.
The release further details the establishment of 151 Service Centers, 36 Meesaq Centers, and 39 Tahaffuz marakaz across Punjab. Over the past five years, more than 2.05 crore citizens have availed services from Police Khidmat Centers. In traffic management, reforms included the issuance of traffic licenses at 737 police stations, 360 patrolling posts, and 151 Khidmat centers, benefiting over 4 million citizens through the e-license service. The Safe City project expanded to 21 additional cities, and police animal rescue centers were established in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Gujranwala, rescuing over 100 animals.
Significant developments in the Punjab Highway Patrol included authority to issue driving licenses and manage challan tickets and axle loads. The Elite Force Rules 2023 were amended after 26 years, increasing allowances by Rs. 37 crore annually. The Counter Terrorism Department underwent major revamps, neutralizing 425 terrorists and arresting 650 after live encounters. Police infrastructure improvements included renovated special branch buildings, offices, and messes. New positions such as DIG Organized Crime Unit and DIG Admin Lahore were created.
Training and development of police personnel were emphasized, with over 32,000 officers undergoing training and refresher courses. Efforts were made to improve women’s representation in the police force and provide equal field posting opportunities. To combat crime in challenging terrains, APC vehicles were deployed. In one year, over 65,000 acres of kacha area was cleared, and 150 proclaimed offenders were arrested with Interpol’s help. A total of 5,905 criminal gangs were apprehended, and a significant decrease in crime rates was noted in various regions of Punjab. Additionally, 171 Martyrs Medals, 218 Ghazi Medals, and 12 Bravery Medals were awarded.
The completion of residential apartments and flats for police employees at Qurban Lines and Bhubtian was also highlighted. The Punjab Police expressed gratitude to Caretaker Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi for his instrumental role in these achievements.
