Lahore: Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, led a comprehensive review of the law and order situation across Punjab, affirming a zero-tolerance policy towards any breaches of peace and legal order. The meeting, which convened senior police officials from across the province, focused on reinforcing the commitment to safeguarding citizen’s lives and properties amid rising security challenges.
According to Punjab Police announcement issued on 11 October 2024, during the session held at the Central Police Office, IG Punjab outlined a robust response strategy to current and potential disturbances. Dr. Anwar underscored the police force’s readiness to address these challenges decisively, emphasizing that peaceful protest is a protected right, however, any acts of violence or disorder would face strict repercussions.
The meeting involved strategic discussions with high-ranking officials including the Additional IG Punjab, Additional IG Operations, and Regional Police Officers of Gujranwala and Rawalpindi, among others. Key directives were issued to enhance coordination and deploy a joint strategy across all operational units to uphold law and order. Dr. Anwar highlighted that all districts have been equipped with the necessary manpower, logistics, and technical resources to manage any situation effectively.
The session also included contributions from other senior officials such as the Managing Director of Safe Cities, DIGs of Operations, PHP, and Elite, alongside AIGs of Operations and Development, ensuring a comprehensive provincial security apparatus is in constant readiness.
