Lahore: Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, affirmed the department’s unwavering commitment to the security of Chinese nationals during his visit to the Chinese Consulate in Lahore, where he met with Deputy Consul General Mr. Zhao Ke.
According to Punjab Police announcement issued on 08 October 2024, the visit was marked by Dr. Anwar expressing condolences for the Chinese nationals lost in a recent terrorist attack in Karachi. He signed the condolence book, extending his solidarity to the bereaved families and underlining the importance of secure cooperation between Pakistan and China, especially concerning the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects. Dr. Anwar detailed the enhanced security measures, including strengthened patrols and rigorous checks along routes frequented by Chinese nationals.
Deputy Consul General Mr. Zhao Ke expressed his satisfaction with the current security measures in place for Chinese citizens and projects across Punjab. Dr. Anwar discussed the role of the Special Protection Unit in ensuring stringent security at residences, offices, and project sites of Chinese experts. The meeting also focused on enhancing information sharing and cooperation between the Punjab Police and Chinese authorities to further improve security protocols. Senior officers, including DIG Operations Punjab Waqas Nazir and DIG Special Protection Unit Muntazir Mehdi, were also present to discuss strategic security matters.
