Lahore: In a significant move to combat organized crime across Punjab, Inspector General of Police Dr. Usman Anwar chaired a video-linked crime meeting, emphasizing the need for accelerated intelligence-based operations. The meeting, which involved key regional and district police officers, focused on intensifying efforts to apprehend dangerous criminals and enhance overall public safety.
According to Punjab Police, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar directed that operations should not only target eradicating organized crime but also extend to curbing drug-related activities within the province. He underscored the importance of effective investigation and the delivery of substantial punishments to maintain law and order. The police chief highlighted that ensuring the protection of citizens’ lives, property, and strict adherence to legal standards are paramount.
Dr. Anwar instructed officers to personally oversee operations aimed at reducing crime rates and enhancing the effectiveness of patrolling teams. He called for continuous search, sweep, and combing operations to suppress criminal elements in all districts, stressing that no one should be allowed to take the law into their own hands and that prompt legal action is essential against any violations.
The meeting, attended by senior police officials including the Additional IG Punjab, Additional IG Operations, and various District Police Officers, served as a platform for reviewing and refining strategies to improve the law enforcement landscape in Punjab.
