Punjab Police Captures Long-Sought Murder Fugitive in Malaysia


Lahore, In a significant breakthrough, the Punjab Police successfully apprehended a dangerous fugitive in Malaysia, who had been on the run for a decade in connection with a murder case.



According to Punjab Police, the operation was led by Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, as part of ongoing efforts to arrest high-risk fugitives abroad. The accused, Muhammad Tauqeer, was wanted for the murder of a citizen in the jurisdiction of the Dhule police station in Gujranwala back in 2014. His capture was achieved through the collaborative efforts of the Special Operations Cell of Punjab Police and Interpol Islamabad.



Following the completion of the legal extradition process, Tauqeer was transferred to Pakistan and taken into custody by the Gujranwala police team upon his arrival at Lahore airport. This arrest marks the 31st criminal apprehended from overseas this year as part of Punjab Police’s intensified crackdown on proclaimed offenders.



IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar commended the CPO Gujranwala Rana Ayaz Saleem and his team for their diligent work in securing the fugitive’s arrest and underscored the importance of swift legal proceedings to ensure the accused is brought to justice. Dr. Anwar also highlighted the ongoing collaboration with Interpol, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and other relevant departments to capture and repatriate fugitives.
