Punjab Police Capture Two Notorious Fugitives from UAE

Islamabad: In a significant operation, the Punjab Police Special Operations Cell has successfully apprehended two high-profile fugitives, wanted for serious crimes including murder and attempted murder, from the United Arab Emirates and brought them back to Pakistan.

A spokesperson for the Punjab Police announced that a special operations team, led by Inspector Khalid Waryah, returned to Islamabad Airport from Dubai with the two apprehended individuals. This operation marks the arrest of the 18th dangerous proclaimed offender from abroad this year.

The spokesperson identified the fugitives as Waleed Sajjad and Ali Zaib. Sajjad was sought by the Gujranwala Police for his alleged involvement in two separate incidents of attempted murder, where citizens were injured by gunfire. Zaib has been wanted since 2023 in connection with a murder case.

After committing their respective crimes, both offenders fled to the UAE. The Punjab Police had secured Red Notices for them through Interpol, facilitating their eventual handover by UAE authorities to the team from Punjab Police.

The Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, commended RPO Tayyab Hafeez Cheema and CPO Gujranwala Rana Ayaz Saleem for their roles in capturing the fugitives. He urged an intensified effort to apprehend other fugitives abroad, emphasizing collaboration with the Federal Investigation Agency, Interpol, and other relevant bodies to ensure their capture.
