Punjab Police Bolster Security at Christian Places of Worship

Islamabad, Punjab Police, under the directive of Inspector General (IG) Dr. Usman Anwar, has amplified security measures at Christian places of worship throughout the province, ensuring that Sunday prayers proceeded without disturbances.

According to a news release by Punjab Police, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar had previously issued a directive to the RPOs and DPOs to enhance the protection of churches. He emphasized that supervisory officers across all districts inspect the safety arrangements in place at churches and other significant locations. Detailed instructions included deploying additional police personnel and snipers at sensitive church locations, ensuring effective patrolling around churches by squads like the Dolphin Squad, PRU, and elite teams. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a high state of alert, continuous search operations in the vicinity of churches and Christian communities, and promoting inter-faith harmony. Dr. Anwar also highlighted that the Punjab Police have initiated message centers dedicated to addressing the concerns of minorities, including the Christian community.
