Punjab Police Bolster Security Across Province for Independence Day Celebrations

Lahore: Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, announced comprehensive security measures for the 77th Independence Day, underscoring a commitment to safeguarding the public amid widespread celebrations.

According to Punjab Police, the security operation was expansive, with over 30,000 officers deployed throughout the province, including Lahore. Dr. Anwar highlighted the deployment of 311 Elite Force teams, 163 Quick Response Force teams, 811 patrolling vehicles, and 1,460 motorcycle teams to ensure public safety. He affirmed that all events were closely monitored using Safe Cities Authority cameras and that stringent actions were taken against any activities compromising public order, such as hooliganism and one-wheeling.

The extensive security arrangements also included 150 walk-through gates and 1,500 metal detectors to bolster the safety protocols at 527 scheduled Independence Day events across Punjab. These events encompassed 251 flag-hoisting ceremonies, 44 rallies, 11 march pasts, and numerous public gatherings, seminars, sports competitions, and memorial ceremonies at the graves of national heroes.
