Lahore, The Organized Crime Unit (OCU) of the Punjab Police has successfully apprehended three members of a dacoit gang accused of robbing a Sikh family of their valuables in Lahore. The swift action by the police highlights their commitment to ensuring the safety of visitors and maintaining law and order in the region.
According to Punjab Police, the arrest was announced by SP Organized Crime Unit (OCU) South Aftab Phularwan during a press briefing at OCU Model Town. The suspects, identified as Shahrukh, Rehana Shahrukh, and Irfan, are foreign nationals. They were reportedly involved in snatching incidents targeting Sikh pilgrims and were believed to be in contact with a hostile agency to defame Pakistan. Additionally, a uniform of a government institution was recovered from their possession, suggesting a more complex criminal operation.
The incident gained further attention when the affected Indian Sikh family met with Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman at the Civil Secretariat and the Inspector General of Police on Tuesday. The family expressed their gratitude to the Punjab government for the prompt arrest of the accused and the recovery of their stolen items. The Chief Secretary assured the family that measures would be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
DIG Operations Ali Nasir Rizvi detailed the police’s efforts in apprehending the suspects, stating that they were arrested in Karachi within four days with the assistance of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) and private CCTV cameras. This quick response and cross-regional cooperation underscore the efficiency and dedication of the Punjab Police in addressing criminal activities and ensuring the safety of all citizens and visitors.
