Punjab Police Arrest Over 200,000 Criminals in Massive Crackdown Under Chief Minister’s Safety Initiative


Lahore: Punjab Police have arrested over 200,000 criminals across the province in a significant crackdown aligned with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision for a safer Punjab. This extensive operation targeted various categories of offenders, including proclaimed offenders and habitual criminals, significantly bolstering law enforcement efforts throughout the region.



According to Punjab Police, the arrests include more than 100,000 proclaimed offenders, with 16,700 classified as Category A individuals wanted for severe crimes—and 84,807 in Category B. Additionally, nearly 53,000 court absconders were captured, enhancing the province’s judicial processing capabilities. The crackdown also led to the apprehension of over 25,000 target offenders known for habitual criminal activities, with significant numbers in both Category A and B.



In Lahore alone, the police detained over 48,000 criminals, highlighting the scale of operations in Punjab’s capital. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar lauded the effectiveness of the police teams and instructed them to intensify their efforts. He emphasized the importance of thorough investigations and swift case resolutions to ensure that justice is promptly served. Dr. Anwar also directed Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to personally oversee ongoing operations targeting dangerous criminals.
