Punjab Police Apprehends Long-Wanted Murder Suspect Upon Return from Turkey

Lahore: In a major law enforcement breakthrough, the Punjab Police, under the directive of Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar, successfully arrested Shafqat Abbas, a fugitive wanted for murder since 2020. Abbas, who had fled to Turkey after his alleged involvement in a murder in Gogera, Okara, was captured at the airport upon his return.

According to Punjab Police, this arrest is part of a broader, relentless campaign to track down fugitives, particularly those who have fled abroad. His arrest marks the 61st apprehension of a fugitive from abroad by Punjab Police this year, reflecting significant progress in their operations.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar praised the effective coordination among Punjab Police, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), and Interpol which led to Abbas’s capture. He has reiterated his commitment to intensifying efforts to apprehend more fugitives involved in serious criminal activities, including murder, robbery, and kidnapping.

Further legal proceedings are underway as Okara Police have taken Shafqat Abbas into custody for his alleged crimes. This arrest underscores the enhanced capabilities and determination of the Punjab Police to enforce law and order by bringing wanted criminals to justice.
