Punjab Police and Interpol Arrest Fugitive in Saudi Arabia After a Decade


Islamabad, In a coordinated effort between Punjab Police and Interpol, a fugitive wanted under anti-terrorism charges has been successfully extradited from Saudi Arabia to Pakistan after evading capture for ten years. The operation marks a significant achievement in the ongoing collaboration between international law enforcement agencies.



According to Punjab Police, the fugitive, identified as Rao Habib-ur-Rehman, was apprehended in Saudi Arabia following a red notice issued by Interpol. The case against Rehman, registered at Fateh Shah police station in Vihari district, involves charges under anti-terrorism provisions. Following his arrest by Saudi authorities, he was handed over to Pakistani officials and was detained upon his arrival at Karachi Airport.



Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, praised the effective coordination between the police teams and international partners. He noted that this arrest is part of a broader effort, with the total number of fugitives apprehended from abroad this year reaching 39. Dr. Anwar also indicated that more fugitives are expected to be repatriated to Pakistan in the coming days, highlighting the ongoing commitment to law enforcement and public safety.
