Lahore, In a robust effort to enhance the welfare of its personnel, the Punjab Police has allocated Rs 116 crore from January to April 2024 for the betterment of the force and their families, as announced by Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar in a recent video message. This funding is part of a larger commitment to spend Rs 350 crore throughout the year on various welfare initiatives.

According to Punjab Police, the funds for these initiatives are sourced from deductions from police salaries and income generated from police welfare activities. Dr. Anwar highlighted significant increases in allocations compared to the previous year, including an educational scholarship fund boost from Rs 9 crore to Rs 85 crore. Despite these substantial expenditures, the total Police Welfare Fund has continued to grow, reaching Rs 1300 crore, thanks to effective management and strategic planning by senior officers. Additionally, the Punjab Police has initiated health care support for employees’ children, including cochlear implant surgeries and monthly stipends for those affected by thalassemia and cerebral palsy. Dr. Anwar assured the police force that their welfare is a priority and the department is committed to ensuring their well-being while they serve the community.
