Punjab Police Aims for Swift Resolution in Blind Murder Cases

Lahore, In a significant move to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of criminal investigations, Additional IG Investigation Punjab Muhammad Idrees Ahmad convened a video link meeting with SSPs/SPs of investigation and DSPs legal from across the province. The session, held at the Central Police Office, focused on accelerating the resolution of blind murder cases and improving the overall conviction rate.

According to Punjab Police, during the meeting, Additional IG Muhammad Idrees Ahmad issued several directives aimed at expediting the investigation process and ensuring timely justice. He emphasized the importance of submitting challans (reports under section 173 Cr PC) promptly, mandating that interim challans must be submitted within 17 days to alleviate the workload of investigating officers through more effective management.

Idrees Ahmad highlighted the urgency of tracing and concluding cases of blind murders as swiftly as possible, mandating that all SDPOs should meticulously complete officer records under their supervision and personally oversee the investigation of significant cases. He further instructed that cases involving nominated accused should be diligently pursued to ensure thorough investigation and preparedness during court appearances.

The meeting also addressed the role of officers in specialized units, directing them to finalize investigations in high-profile cases and urging SPs to make every effort to enhance the conviction rate in investigation cases. With the presence of senior officials, including DIG Investigation Captain retired Syed Hamad Abid and other officers, the gathering underscored the Punjab Police’s commitment to bolstering the capabilities of its investigative teams.

These directives come as part of a broader initiative to streamline investigation procedures and improve the efficacy of law enforcement in addressing serious crimes across Punjab.
