Lahore, The Punjab Police, under the leadership of Inspector General Police Dr. Usman Anwar, is intensifying efforts to protect citizen lives and property, and to more effectively combat crime using modern technology and optimized resources. This ongoing commitment was highlighted during a special session with a delegation of Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASsP) under training from the 50th Common Training Program (CTP) held at the Central Police Office in Lahore.

According to Punjab Police, the week-long training for the ASsP is part of a broader initiative to sharpen the operational strategies and address the challenges of modern policing. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar personally briefed the officers on various aspects of police work across the province, including operations, investigations, traffic management, and specialized units like the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), Special Branch, and Elite Forces.

The training also emphasized the importance of continual learning and development through refresher programs to enhance the force’s efficiency. Dr. Anwar pointed out the equal opportunities being afforded to women officers for promotion and career advancement within the police force.

During their training, the ASsP delegates visited the Special Branch Headquarters at Roberts Club, where Additional IG Zulfiqar Hameed elaborated on the critical role of the Special Branch as a key field formation acting as the “eyes and ears” of the Punjab Police in maintaining law and order and combating organized crime, hoarding, and sectarianism.

Furthermore, Additional IG Investigation Punjab Muhammad Idrees Ahmed provided insights into the structure, resources, and challenges of the Investigation Branch. He detailed efforts to improve the conviction rate through faster apprehension of proclaimed offenders and enhanced coordination with the prosecution department.

The session underscored the Punjab Police’s dedication to evolving its operational capabilities and training frameworks to meet contemporary security challenges effectively, ensuring a safer environment for the community.
